Some of my Favorite things–By Beth Divine Style!

Hello, fashion followers. I thought I’d make this an easy, breezy blog since we are nearly done with selling our old house. It’s so much work, and I am very overwhelmed. So…please bear with me as I do an easy blog for a change. I think you will like it.

If you’ve ever read Oprah’s favorite things articles in her O magazine, this is the same idea. I want to share with you some of my favorite things—from stores, brands, beauty products, etc. Let’s get started, shall we (btw: this blog is for everybody—men and women!)

Skin Care From Your Personal Stylist

Let’s start with skin care:

Shampoo: for men, I like Dove Mens+ Care Shampoo. It smells nice, and it’s effective at getting hair clean. Nice price, too. Men’s Dove

More luxury shampoo: Invati men’s nourishing and exfoliating shampoo. It cleans and exfoliates. We all need that!

Aveda Shampoo

Women: I love Pureology shampoo. It’s all so good and nourishing. Buy the special formula for your hair.

Pureology Shampoo & Conditioner

Other favorite brands: Moroccanoil hydrating mask. This makes your hair so soft. Use it every couple of weeks!

Sephora Hydrating Mask

Styling products for women: I love Big, Sexy Hair Root Pump since it really adds height to your crown!

Sexy Hair Volumizing Mousse

I also use Kenra hair taffy:

Kenra Hair Taffy

Skin care: For men, I like Clinique’s line. Find the one that works for you!

Lord and Taylor

Women: I like Clarins and Lancome for women 45 and older. For younger women, Clinique and Nars skin care are great. Mary Kay has some great products, too. For drug store products, I like Olay and Neutrogena.

Men: I like Olay moisturizing products for you, and look at Clinique or Aveda moisturizers as well.

I have to use so many moisturizers since my skin is so dry. I use many. Some of my favorites are from Beauty Counter, Aveeno Daily Moisturizer, Clinique’s body butter, Aveda, Philosophy (Fresh Cream) and more.

Philosophy Body Moisturizer

Okay, on to other things.

Advice From Your Personal Stylist

I try to divert from my classic style when I buy casual and Friday night going out clothes. I love worn flannel shirts, denim, cozy sweaters, and jeans that are different. My “go to” stores are really in my neighborhood. I love “Fira” and Civvies. I have bought tops and denim there quite a bit lately. They always have something different. Sometimes I will go to Secret Ingredient. While the styles there are usually not “me,” I can sometimes find something unusual such as cute dress or top.

Online: I am a Lilly Pulitzer girl. Love, love the bright colors and high quality fabrics they use. I also like Boden, Calypso St Barth and other fun websites.

I like Macy’s for sales and basics as well as Ann Taylor, Loft, JCrew and JCrew Mercantile.  Banana Republic has great jackets, and White House Black Market has great washable basics. Nordstom has great shoes (of course), and often have the latest trends after they leave the designer labels.

For guys – I love Brooks Brothers shirts because they have four cuts and they fit. Macy’s has good basics, as does Von Maur.

Last tip: Von Maur has free gift wrapping. One of the few stores that still offers this. It’s a delight to have a beautifully wrapped gift to give someone. It’s why I often shop there, and besides – I love their sales as well their dresses and shoes (don’t forget to check out their shoe sale room).

Keep it sassy, Indy!
