What’s Trending in 2022

The fall-winter trends are in full swing, but it’s not too late to take advantage of them. Especially while we are in the swing of winter sales, according to your Indianapolis Men’s and Women’s Image Consultant.

Image Consultant Trends for 2022

One of the trends continues to be knitwear. It’s comfy; it’s easy and simple to wear. I added a knit sweater dress to my wardrobe this year. I love it. I sized up, because I am curvy, and I have loved wearing it. I often add a duster or heavy cardigan since it’s been so warm this year. This dress is similar to mine, except it has long sleeves.

For guys, wearing knitwear can be some cozy joggers, a hoodie, a shirt-jacket, or a sweater. I often see hoodies worn under a smart peacoat or even a blazer. I like this look. Here’s a cozy T and joggers in a neutral black color you can pair with a bomber, leather jacket, or even unstructured blazer. It’s from AG.

Fur continues to be big, as does Sherpa and pile coats. I love this cozy look for winter. I participated by buying a faux suede pile coat in camel, a poncho with fur trim. I have been admiring the sherpa coats, but have not bought on yet. Winter is really just starting in the Midwest, so I still may find something. I have certainly recommended it to clients.

Cut-out clothes are another trend. I have seen several sweaters in the major department stores with cutouts on the arms, on the sides, etc. They are nothing like the cold-shoulder trend that is going out; they are fresh and new, and I really like them. If you want to start small, here is a basic dress with a cutout, and you could make it office-worthy if you wore a blazer or even a top over it, turning the bottom into a basic. black skirt. This is from Macy’s.

Faux leather is still very in and fresh.  I have noticed how much better faux leather jackets are now, and sometimes you really have to look and feel to even know they are faux. I believe this improvement has happened due to consumer demand to avoid clothing made with animals. It’s a cool trend, and the great part is that these jackets are so much more affordable and even comfortable. People don’t believe me when I tell them I wash my faux leather leggings in Woolite in cold water, and then air dry them.

Image Consultant 2022 guide

Speaking of pants, the wider leg and the boxier look are still with us. I continue to see the high-waisted Mom jeans, and honestly, they look great on most women. I am no longer buying the super skinny jean anymore since they really didn’t flatter me. I also bought a pair 0f burgundy faux leather wide-leg pants from Anthro, and they are so flattering, even on someone like me with bigger thighs.

Caution: I had to try on a couple of different pants from various stores to find the perfect pair. So, be patient, and maybe you will find your unicorn pair! They are by Pilcro.

There are more trends I will be covering in future blogs! Happy 2022!

Keep it sassy, Indy.
