Styling Jogger and Camo Pants

Hello Indianapolis Fashionistas,

If you haven’t noticed, jogger pants are all around us. They are not new, but seem to be coming out with different features such as the stripe down the side, in knits, silkier fabrics, etc. They are a more tapered pant, so I thought a blog about how to wear and style them might be helpful.

I have not always been able to wear this pant since I am a Bigger on the Bottom figure. I really have to watch shapes that are wider in the hips. I have to balance it out not with a fitted top, but with a top that has volume. Also adding a big or tall shoe helps balance me as well.

Styling Jogger and Camo Pants – which to wear from your Indianapolis Personal Stylist

I recently tried on these pants from Evereve. I was surprised how much I liked them and how flattering they look. One is a navy camo pattern and the other the traditional olive green that had a cool little stripe down the side. I wore them with a denim off the shoulder shorter top (I will probably not wear it off the shoulder, unless it’s very hot), and the tall shoes pictured here. It was a surprising outfit to say the least, but I liked it. I ended up purchasing the navy camo but may exchange for the olive ones. Not sure yet. What you buy pants like this and you are wider at the hips, either pair it with a longer top or a short top. Bomber jackets or just a shorter jacket –maybe in denim– can help with balance. If the pants just make your hips look ridiculous, pick a more straight leg pant without details. Don’t forget a casual T such as in grey or black/cream strip, or even a crop top with volume in knit. This gives the casual vibe. To make them even more casual, pair with a sneaker or statement T. To dress them up, wear the camo pants with a silky blouse–maybe black, white or navy–and an open toe bootie shoe or even a pump. If your top is a light color, pair with some nude stilettos.

Of course, the silky jogger pants are another great and logical option to dress up for a night out. Pair them in the same saturation such as dark with dark for a monochromatic look that lengthens and slims. Really look in the mirror when you try on these pants and make sure they are flattering. Sometimes they can make you look wide–even when you are not. Of course, a longer top does hide this…and wearing a heel helps, too. You can wear these dressy pants with a more casual T, a glittery necklace and heels for a high/low look that can be very pretty in the summer. I also like a pretty cotton white top that’s strapless (corset style) or just small straps that’s fitted at the waist with camo or jogger pants.

Keep the purse minimal such as a fun clutch in a bright print or coordinating color, or even a leather backpack for errand running if your look is casual.

Have I said lately how much I love a leather backpack. More on that later!

Keep it sassy, Indy.
