Keeping it Chic the Last Days of August

I just finished shopping for some late summer additions to my wardrobe such as hats and sunglasses – these are items that are always lost for some reason. As a Personal Stylist, I am so proud that I have held on to some snazzy Ray Bans for over a year.

Accessories Types From Your Personal Stylist

Anyway, heading to Castleton Mall, my hope was high for some great accessories, but the first two stores, Macys and Von Maur, were disappointing. There were a few sale hats, but not anything great.

JC Penney did not disappoint.
Several hats were on sale for 60 percent off, and the hat that wasn’t on sale with the blue Pom-Poms was only $28, so I bought that. I also found some unusual floral sunglasses. Exactly what I needed.

I am going on vacation soon to a city, so I will dress up a little more than usual – white jeans instead of my distressed and faded faithful’s; some dressy tennis shoes. I was pleased to find some unusual shoes at Ever Eve. They are hunter green New Balance—slightly retro. Since I will be taking many coral, navy and white pieces, the shoes will be perfect. For a hot day when it’s going to be in the 90s, I am planning to wear a yellow cotton dress that’s sleeveless with the green shoes. I love this look. If I had smaller feet, I would have bought the while leather sneakers, but my feet look too long and in general, big.

Western Wear That Your Personal Stylist Loves

Just a word about Western wear … one of my clients recommended a great boot store that’s south of Indy, near Vincennes. She says she loves to shop there, and the selection of boots and other pieces is fab. Check it out:

I am sure you’ve seen the posts on Facebook and Instagram about sporting a bare, no-makeup face. I admire it, but people you don’t want to see me without makeup. Along these lines, I have seen two of my friends recently without makeup. Wow. They looked so much better. One friend must wear the wrong shade of foundation—her natural skin is beautiful. Must have a chat with her. LOL.

My other friend had removed her heavy black eyeliner. She has blue eyes – and honestly – she didn’t look like the same person. She looked younger, fresher and natural. Hmmmm – maybe for one day you could go without makeup or maybe eyeliner and see how it looks. You might be surprised – as I was.

I was talking with my running coach this week about our mutual love of green – bright green and Kelly green. I am a Spring, which means I can wear so many shades of green. I am usually attracted to brighter greens. Anyway, yesterday, walking around Macys, I noticed so many green pieces of clothing – from blazers to sweaters, dresses and even pants. Try it!! It’s just a happy color, and you don’t have to limit it to spring. I am thinking of adding the that bright green blazers to jeans and even navy separates.

Happy Labor Day weekend, people!

Keep it sassy, Indy!
