This week we’re covering one more set of ideas for smart travel packing. Take advantage of these Personal Image Consultant pointers for your next trip!

Personal Image Consultant Advice for Travel Packing

Wear Items More Than Once

Pick items that you can wear multiple times. This can save space in your luggage and also reduce the time it takes to pack. So bring some outfits you can wear at least twice!

Bring Clothes You Can Part With

If you have some older items that you would feel comfortable not keeping, take them along if you have spare space. Once you finish wearing them during your trip, you can make a donation to a local charity shop or throw them away. You’ll reduce what you need to pack for your return and can make progress on your next closet cleanse while you’re away.

Travel should be fun and relaxing but make sure to bring at least one dress up ensemble should the occasion arise. So consider packing a chic blazer or a nice denim jacket. This can help you avoid scrambling to find and purchase a new outfit at your destination.

Maximize Your Carry-On Bag

Don’t let an unfortunate case of misplaced luggage wreck your trip! Make the most of your carry-on bag by packing important items. Having a spare outfit, medication, essential toiletries, and important documents accessible can save you a lot of anxiety should your luggage go missing.

While I am someone who absolutely loves color in the wardrobe, I am also a realist. I have difficulty keeping clothes clean during a trip (I was the always girl playing outside and getting my white knee highs dirty by the end of the day.) That’s why I recommend some good basic wardrobe pieces in your best neutrals. (You don’t know your “best” neutral colors, you say? Reach out for a color analysis with me by emailing me at beth@bethdivinestyle.com), For me this often means some type of dark-color dress that is comfortable in navy or black. I dress it up or down with bright cardigans (my last trip I added a bright red sweater to my black dress.); try scarfs; a denim or other type jacket. You will wear ensemble over and over again.

I also like to bring something warm that I can wear to bed in case the room is cold. Last time this was a tweed cardigan I also used as a blanket. Don’t forget at least one pair of dressy jeans or chinos that go with your other pieces in the wardrobe.

One last item you really need: a raincoat or trench coat. You don’t want to be caught in the rain, and picking the right coat can be in the icing on the cake for your daily outfits.
