Spring is here and Easter is nearly over, so many of us are either planning a vacation or going on one. If you’re like me, you may struggle deciding what to pack and how many clothes are too many. I’ve only recently started taking carry-on luggage but must say I’m getting into the groove of less is more. However, it’s still possible to dress chic and on point for all that we do during our trips. Explore some Personal Image Consultant tips below!
How to Pack Smart for Your Next Trip

Before you start throwing clothes into your suitcase, take a moment to plan your outfits and make a packing list. Consider the weather, types of events you’ll be attending, and any special requirements. Think about versatile pieces that can be dressed up or down, so you’re ready for any occasion. A thoughtful list will help you pack light and efficiently, ensuring you don’t overpack.
This travel planning phase is also an excellent opportunity to create some new outfits for your trip. If this exercise overwhelms you, consider contacting me for a closet cleanse and a trip packing appointment. This time of year, I work with new and existing clients to plan for their vacation fashion by buying some new pieces and repurposing some older items.
Pack with the Right Luggage
Selecting the right luggage is crucial. Ensure it meets both your needs and your airline’s baggage policy. No one wants to face unexpected fees at the check-in counter or struggle with oversized bags in transit. Consider the duration of your next trip and the type of activities you’ll be engaging in.
I have learned that a dark backpack can be an indispensable travel tool. I bought this Kingston backpack recently and absolutely love it for its perfect size.
Add Color and Practicality with Purses
It’s hard for me to limit my purses! In addition to my backpack, I’ll take a more neutral crossbody bag and some type of colorful clutch that adds a little extra to my outfits. This makes me feel a little more put together.
Pick Comfortable Shoes
If shoes are not comfortable, your trip is ruined. Also, this is not the time to pack new shoes that you’ve never worn. I always pack my black sneakers since I will work out in them, but they also double for some good walking shoes. I’ll also bring a colorful flat and some type of light sandal/pump for going out.
